NEW YORK – Atlas Obscura, the leading community-focused travel platform inspiring wonder and curiosity about the world, today announced a new two-year agreement with SiriusXM for The Atlas Obscura Podcast, extending a partnership behind one of the most distinctive shows in travel and discovery audio. Two-time Peabody Award-winning journalist Kelly McEvers has also signed on to continue as host.
The renewed deal extends The Atlas Obscura Podcast through 2028, continuing its genre-defining run of taking listeners to the world’s most unusual places every single day. The announcement follows a strong year for Atlas Obscura’s audio slate, which earned Ambie Award recognition in 2026.
“We’re proud to continue building with SiriusXM,” said Doug Baldinger, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Producer of The Atlas Obscura Podcast. “They’ve been an outstanding partner, and this deal gives us the runway to keep making the kind of show that only Atlas Obscura can make. Having Kelly back as host gives us an incredible foundation for what comes next.”
Kelly McEvers joined the show as Co-Host in October 2025 and has since become central to its voice. Previously the host of NPR’s All Things Considered and founding host of NPR’s Embedded, which was recently named one of Time magazine’s “100 Best Podcasts of All Time,” she brings decades of narrative journalism experience to the series.
“This show lets me be curious for a living,” said McEvers. “After spending decades of my career traveling the world, I now get to take listeners to a new place every day.”
“The Atlas Obscura Podcast is truly one of a kind—a distinctive, endlessly surprising show with a loyal audience and a point of view you simply can’t find anywhere else,” said Kameel Stanley, Program Director of Podcasts at SiriusXM and Executive Producer of The Atlas Obscura Podcast. “Our partnership with Atlas Obscura has been both creatively rewarding and a strong business success, and we’re thrilled to extend it for another two years. This is exactly the kind of enduring partnership we want to build around exceptional shows and brands.”
